AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi Winter Test 2015 Helmet (Limited Edition)

This is the AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi Winter Test 2015 Helmet which is now available in Limited Edition numbers.

Valentino Rossi first used this helmet during the first MotoGP winter test session for 2015. The winter test took place in Sepang in the usual sweltering conditions, so Rossi chose to inject a bit of humor to the proceedings by using a helmet design based on a woolly Christmas hat. Rossi even brought a proper woolly winter hat (in the same design as his helmet) with him to Sepang.

Valentino Rossi winter hat

The helmet was designed by longtime Rossi helmet collaborator, Aldo Drudi, and it features the recognizable yellow and blue colour scheme of Valentino Rossi. The helmet is patterned with various Christmas and winter icons, all made to look like they were knitted around the helmet.

The crown of the helmet features a giant yellow snowflake, and further down the helmet are two further rows of blue ‘cable-knitted’ snowflakes. Inbetween these rows of knitted snowflakes are rows of knitted reindeer, and a row of knitted Christmas tress that run around the base of the helmet.

The rear sides of the helmet feature Rossi’s number 46……made to look like it has been knitted in to the helmet.

Valentino Rossi Winter Test 2015

This is one of Rossi’s most eyecatching Winter Test helmets.

AGV have now released this design as a Limited Edition in the Corsa helmet range. The Corsa has the performance of the Pista GP (which is the helmet model that Rossi races in) and the characteristics of a helmet for road use. And as an extra bonus, AGV have included a woolly hat in the same style that Rossi wore with each order of this limited edition helmet.

AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi ‘Wish You Were Here’ Helmet

AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi 'Wish You Were Here' Helmet

AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi 'Wish You Were Here' Helmet

The is the AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi ‘Wish You Were Here’ Helmet, also known as the ‘Wish’ helmet, which has now been released in the Corsa range.

This is a very special Valentino Rossi helmet design and it was created as a tribute to his close friend, and fellow MotoGP racer, Marco Simoncelli who was killed during the Sepang MotoGP in 2011.

Rossi unveiled this helmet at the Misano round of the 2013 MotoGP season. Ever since MotoGP returned to Misano in 2008, Valentino Rossi has had a custom helmet design created to celebrate the fact that this is his home race….literally, as the town of Tavullia where he was born is only a few miles up the road from the circuit.

Bringing this helmet tribute to the Misano MotoGP also held a deeper significance – Simoncelli was also a local, he was born in Cattolica, a seaside town a few miles away from the circuit, and the Misano circuit was renamed the ‘Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli’ in 2011 as a tribute to him.

The helmet was design by Aldo Drudi and it features the album cover for Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish you Were Here’. The top of the helmet features the robot arms, and the rear of the helmet features the famous Pink Floyd photograph showing two suited men shaking hands, with one on fire. The sides of the helmet feature Rossi’ number ’46’ in yellow.

Aldo Drudi described the helmet: “this year’s idea is very simple: the album cover dominates the crown of the helmet. Two robotic hands unite the four elements in the background”.

Valentino Rossi Misano 2013

The ‘Wish You Were Here’ reference is a clear message from Rossi to his good friend Marco Simoncelli, and the lyrics in the song are also pertinent to men who make their living risking their lives going round the same tracks every year during the MotoGP season:

How I wish, how I wish you were here
We’re just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
And how we found
The same old fears
Wish you were here

Official description of the AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi ‘Wish’ helmet:
Valentino Rossi’s dedication is very closely linked to the musical meaning of the images on the helmet. Wish you were here is an album about the absence of man, sad and lost in what Gilmour and waters define as the “society of machines”. There is no doubt that the absence of Marco Simoncelli has been felt even more strongly at his “home track” which was in fact named after him a few months after his tragic death.

This limited edition reproduces the graphics On Valentino’s race helmet except for the text “wish you were here” and visor components / accessories. The M of the monster energy logo is shown with his stylised flames on the chin guard and sides of the helmet.

AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi 'Wish You Were Here' Helmet

The Corsa model combines the performance of the Pista GP with the characteristics needed for use on the road.

The Corsa has a carbon-fibre/glass-fibre/aramid fibre ssl (super super Light) shell which was designed using fem techniques and Features EPS internal ducts to create a small, light helmet Which is both comfortable and extremely safe. The result is a helmet that is significantly superior to the limits set by ECE Standards and that weighs just 1350g* (+/- 50 g) in MS size (the weight refers to the ECE 2205 version) Unlike the Pista GP, the Corsa comes with a system for opening And closing the air vents which makes it a less extreme, more versatile helmet. The entire ventilation system was designed Using computational fluid dynamics studies and wind tunnel tests.

This helmet is highly efficient at removing heat and moisture from the rider’s head. Thanks to its large rear spoiler, the Corsa boasts unparalleled performance as in terms of aerodynamic penetration and high speed stability. Overall, the visor area is 9% bigger meaning a 15° improvement in vision which obviously enhances the active safety factor

The fit of the Corsa was developed using the new “human Engineering” process with which design starts from the surfaces in contact with the wearer’s head. The padding inside the helmet starts with a concave 3D structure that is pre-shaped to match the contours of the rider’s head and any surfaces in contact with the head are stitch-free.

The Lycra® and Shalimar® sanitised internal components are fully adjustable due to the fact that the position and depth of the crown pad can be modified as can the thickness of the cheek pads. The combination of these solutions, which are covered by Three separate patents, make the Corsa fit different shapes of skull as never before.

Extreme standards helmets is the name of the Revolutionary new range of AGV helmets which Includes the Corsa. It is based on the “human engineering” concept and applies to a new design process which starts from the components that are in direct contact with the head and gradually progresses to the outer shell. As a result, the structural shapes imitate the area of contact thus providing greater safety and smaller dimensions

Features on the AGV Corsa Soleluna helmet:

  • SSL Carbon-kevlar construction
  • 4 shell sizes
  • IVS (Integrated Ventilation System)
  • Breathable Lycra micro-porous lining and Dry-comfort fabric

AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi Mugello 2015 helmet (Limited Edition)

AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi Mugello 2015 helmet (Limited Edition)

AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi Mugello 2015 helmet (Limited Edition)

True to form, Valentino Rossi unveiled a special helmet design on Saturday morning of his home Italian MotoGP at Mugello in 2015, and the design has now been made available from AGV.

This is the AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi Mugello 2015 helmet, which is also sometimes known as the Valentino Rossi ‘Mirror’ helmet or the ‘Solar Power’ helmet, or even the ‘Yellow Energy’ helmet.

Rossi wore this helmet design for the 2015 Mugello MotoGP, and the chrome mirror finish on the top of the helmet makes it one of Rossi’s most striking helmet designs. This design is pretty simplistic when compared with previous designs that Valentino has worn for the Mugello MotoGP, but it is equally as striking as the ones that have gone before it in the past.

The helmet was designed by Aldo Drudi and it was supposed to represent how Rossi’s energy rises during the race weekend as he feeds of the energy of the fans, before it reaches its maximum level for race day.

The chin and cheeks of the helmet have a blue design that is supposed to represent a solar panel, and the rear of the helmet features six different energy levels, starting at ‘red’ for the first free practice session before rising all the way to green and eventually ‘yellow’, the highest level, for race day.

Valentino Rossi Mugello 2015

The right hand side of the helmet has the words ‘Energia Rinnovabile’, which basically means renewable energy, running round the rim of the visor, while the left hand side has the words ‘Yellow Energy’ in the same place. The top of the helmet had a mirror effect to reflect back and mirror all the fans the crowd into the hills of the Mugello circuit.

AGV released a statement about the design that reads:

During a typical race weekend, ‘The Doctor’s’ energy level steadily rises until attaining its peak in time for Sunday’s race. To represent this phenomenon, the rear of his 2015 Mugello helmet reflects six different energy levels, beginning with the bright red of the first free practice and advancing session by session to the maximum level—Vale’s signature yellow—just in time for him to line up on the starting grid.

Valentino Rossi Mugello 2015

AGV have released this stunning Valentino Rossi race replica in the Corsa range – the Corsa helmet range sits between the AGV K3 SV and the premium Pista GP range, making it more affordable than the Pista. The Corsa takes many of the premium features from the Pista, but it is more engineered for everyday street and road use than the Pista.

Official Description of the AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi Mugello 2015 (Mirror) helmet:
The Corsa is a supersport helmet which combines the performance of the Pista GP with road-going characteristics such as adjustable ventilation and improved comfort without having to forget the performance standards of the GP version.

Fitted with a double-D retention system, the outer shell is made up of SSL layers (Aramid and glass fibers) and is available in four sizes. The design is intended to cut to the minimum any interference with the racing suit and protective hump and to optimize safety even at high speed.

The spoiler has been designed to detach from the helmet in the event of an accident to increase the passive safety of the helmet. The visor component area has been reduced by 71% compared with the GP Tech and this allows the space saved to be used to increase the thickness of the impact absorption material with all the safety benefits that brings. The visor can easily be removed as can the washable inner components. To provide improved comfort, the surfaces in direct contact with the head are seamless and the fit can be optimized with special additional padding to the cheeks and back of the neck. Designed to maximize comfort, ergonomics, safety and aerodynamics.

Made in Italy and protective of the environment: the Corsa is designed and made in Italy by highly qualified craftsmen using the very latest technology. These helmets are manufactured using the best technologies with great effort invested in protecting the environment. Waterjet technology is used to cut the carbon fiber shells, the painting system uses eco-compatible water-based paints and a dust suppression / residue treatment system is in operation throughout the entire factory.

Extreme Standards Helmets is the name of the revolutionary new range of AGV helmets which includes the Corsa. It is based on the “human engineering” concept and applies to a new design process which starts from the components that are in direct contact with the head and gradually progresses to the outer shell. As a result, the structural shapes imitate the area of contact, thus providing greater safety and smaller dimensions.

Features:

  • Shell: SSL (Super Super Light) in composite fiber, Aramid and carbon fiber.

AGV Pista GP Valentino Rossi Soleluna helmet

AGV Pista GP Valentino Rossi Soleluna helmet

AGV Pista GP Valentino Rossi Soleluna helmet

This is the AGV Pista GP Valentino Rossi Soleluna helmet – and it is a beautiful Valentino Rossi race replica helmet. This version is also extra-special as it comes complete with the Monster Energy sponsorship logos on the helmet, something that rarely happens on Valentino Rossi replicas, making it look even more authentic.

This latest design was created by Aldo Drudi and it has pretty much been Rossi’s primary helmet design since he returned to Yamaha in the 2013 MotoGP season.

It is a stunning design that utilises Rossi’s usual Sun and Moon logos to striking effect. The front of the helmet features a bright yellow sun that has yellow, blue, and red rays sweeping back towards the rear of the helmet where they intersect with a large blue and red crescent moon.

The sharp chin of the helmet features the green and black Monster energy logo, which also appears again on the sides towards the back of the helmet. Either side of the helmet features Valentino Rossi’s race number ’46’.

As race replicas go, this is about as authentic as they come – it is basically the same lid that Rossi races with.

Valentino Rossi 2015Valentino Rossi 2015

The AGV Pista model is the ‘next generation’ helmet from AGV, and it has been in development since 2012 when Valentino Rossi was seen wearing it during testing for Ducati. It has since gne on to be the racers choice for a number of MotoGP riders including Jack Miller and Pol Espargaro. AGV maintain that the Pista has an ‘exclusive’ ergonomic design that makes the helmet the most aerodynamic lid in its class, and they have even gone as far to state that the Pista will lift the bar higher for all helmets and establish a new standard.

Official Description of the AGV Pista Soleluna helmet:
The Pista GP is the revolutionary new top of the range model. Developed in collaboration with Valentino Rossi and other riders from the World Championship Series, the Pista GP sets new standards in terms of protection and ergonomics and is the benchmark for professional race helmets. The carbon fibre shell and the EPS internal components were optimised using FEM techniques (Finite Elements Analysis) to obtain an extremely high performance helmet in terms of size, light weight and protection. The result is a helmet that is significantly superior than the limits set by ECE standards and that weighs just 1275 g (refers to MS size in the ECE 2205 version).

The entire ventilation system was designed using computational fluid dynamic modelling and wind tunnel tests. This helmet is highly efficient at removing heat and moisture from the rider’s head. Thanks to its large rear spoiler, the Pista GP boasts first class performance in terms of aerodynamic penetration and high speed stability. Overall, the visor aperture is 9% bigger meaning a 15° improvement in vision which obviously enhances the active safety factor.

The fit of the Pista GP was developed using “Human Engineering” whereby the design starts from the surfaces in contact with the wearer’s head. The inside of the helmet starts with a concave 3D structure that is pre-shaped to match the contours of the rider’s head and any surfaces in contact with the head are stitch-free. The Lycra® and Shalimar® sanitized internal components are fully adjustable due to the fact that the position and depth of the crown pad can be modified as can the thickness of the cheek pads. The combination of these solutions, which are covered by three separate patents, make the Pista GP fit the different cranial shapes as never before

Features:

  • Limited edition monster version
  • Shell: made entirely of Carbon composite fibre
  • Number of shells: 4 shell sizes
  • Ventilation System: IVS (Integrated Ventilation System) with channels hollowed directly in the shell
  • Inside padding: Fully removable and washable. Available in summer and winter versions.
  • Visor: Flat, non-scratch, anti-fog RACE visor with wide field of vision, equipped for tear-off strips with 100% protection from UV rays; Comes complete with Pinlock insert
  • New visor mechanism in metal with swivel opening. Quick release system for tool-free removal and replacement of the visor in seconds
  • Fastening System: Double D
  • Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL

AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi Turtle helmet (Mugello 2013)

AGV Corsa Turtle Rossi Helmet

AGV Corsa Turtle Rossi Helmet

MotoGP might be unpredictable, but one thing can always be counted on – Valentino Rossi will bring a custom helmet design to the Mugello MotoGP round, and it is usually worth the wait.

Over the years we have seen designs as iconic as ‘My Face‘, the ‘Icon‘ helmet, and many more, and in 2013, Rossi chose a turtle design as the subject for his Mugello helmet.

This helmet is also known as the “Tartaruga Mugello 2013” helmet or just simply “Tartaruga”. This helmet is a strictly Limited Edition in the COrsa range, but it can also be picked up in the more affordable AGV K3 range.

Designed by Aldo Drudi, the helmet features a giant cartoon turtle sat on the top of the helmet, with its eyes facing forwards.

The turtle was significant for a number of reasons – it was the first racing mascot that Valentino adopted when he was racing minimotos as a child, and he raced with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toy stuck to the back of his helmet. Rossi also has a small turtle tattoo on his hip.

Valentino Rossi Mugello MotoGP 2013

The turtle design had another meaning, and it was intended as a joke to poke fun at the fact that Rossi had not been fast enough that season and that he was struggling to keep up with Dani Pedrosa, Jorge Lorenzo, and Marc Marquez. There is a reference to this on the side of the helmet where four stick figures can be seen running in a group, with the one at the back in yellow (Valentino Rossi) trying to catch up with the other three.

This helmet design is now available in the excellent AGV Corsa range. The Corsa is a premium helmet that sits between the AGV K3 range and the top level Pista GP helmet. Think of the AGV Corsa as a super-sport helmet that takes some of the best race inspired elements from the Pista GP and gives them more flexibility, and the comfort that is required for a road helmet.

Official description of the “Tartaruga Mugello 2013” helmet:
The Corsa is a supersport helmet which combines the performance of the Pista GP with road-going characteristics such as adjustable ventilation and improved comfort without having to forget the performance standards of the GP version.

Fitted with a double-D retention system, the outer shell is made up of SSL layers (Aramid and glass fibers) and is available in four sizes. The design is intended to cut to the minimum any interference with the racing suit and protective hump and to optimize safety even at high speed.

AGV Corsa Valentino Rossi Hand-print Helmet (Misano 2014)

AGV Pista GP Valentino Rossi Hand Print helmet

AGV Pista GP Valentino Rossi Hand Print helmet

This is the Valentino Rossi ‘Hand Print’ helmet design in the AGV Corsa helmet range.

This is a replica of the design that Valentino Rossi wore for the 2014 Misano MotoGP and it is also known as ‘Give us a hand’.

The design features the handprints of some of the key people in Valentino Rossi’s life – and the helmet is adorned with coloured handprints from Rossi’s team, his mechanics, and even includes paw prints from his two Bulldogs (Cesare and Cecilia) and his cat (Rossano) which can be seen on the rear of the helmet. The sides of the helmet feature lipstick kiss imprints from Rossi’s mother Stefano and his girlfriend Linda. The helmet also features a fingerprint from Aldo Drudi – the man behind all of Rossi’s helmet designs.

Around the chin of the helmet is printed the phrase “Misano ci dà una mano”. This phrase is from an Italian advert and eventually became a well-know phrase, roughly translated it means ‘Misano give us a hand’ or more simply ‘Misano helps you’.

Video of Valentino Rossi revealing the 2014 ‘Misano ci dà una mano’ design:

The AGV Corsa range sits between the AGV K3 (entry level range) and the AGV Pista (high end range). It is a professional helmet that can be used on the road or the track, and it has many of the benefits that you would get with the AGV Pista helmet – the only real significant difference is that the Corsa comes with a system for opening and closing the air vents, which makes it more user friendly for street wear and makes the helmet slightly more flexible and versatile in the conditions that it can be used.

The SSL Carbon/Aramid/Fiberglass shell has the same silhouette and aerodynamic properties as the Pista GP and utilises the same revolutionary custom-fit interior, making the Corsa a striking and aggressive looking helmet.

Details:

  • Carbon/Aramid/Fiberglass SSL (Super Super Light) Shell
